Regulation and Market Surveillance Analyst
Location: Austin

Description

Virtu is a financial trading technology firm and a global leader in electronic market making. We actively make markets across a broad range of asset classes, providing liquidity on over two hundred thirty five market centers around the world.

We are looking for a self-driven regulation and market surveillance analyst to join our legal and compliance team in the Austin office. This position is critical our business model as we develop strong relationships with regulators and outside parties. The role will require proactive project management, managing multiple deadlines and engaging with multiple teams within the organization to effectively drive projects. You will be required to work closely with traders and technologists in reviewing the issues and documenting corrective actions The ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator and be able to work with all levels of management.

General Duties

  • Engage in compliance, regulatory affairs, and market structure analysis.
  • Create, implement and conduct surveillance reviews that cover specific regulation or firm policy. 
  • Respond to regulatory inquiries by reviewing controls and procedures, reports, and investigating the issues identified in the inquiry.
  • Review trading activity for conformance with rules and procedures and assist in the development of policies and procedures that reflect changes in business, regulation, and with developing Virtu’s views on the issues that affect the industry.

 

Job Qualifications 

  • Undergraduate Degree in Economics or Finance and a strong interest in financial markets and market structure.
  • MBA, MS in Math, Economics, Statistics or Financial Engineering
  • Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Understanding of databases, ability to interface with SQL or Oracle, and ability to code in R and Python are a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Highly organized and can develop organizational processes and systems
  • Self-motivated/quick learner who is process oriented, analytical and has strong technical aptitude
  • Ability to handle various projects simultaneously, adapt to changes in project direction and priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and with the ability to influence and challenge across all level within the organization.
