Vincent Viola
Mr. Viola is the former Chairman of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) and is one of the nation’s foremost leaders in electronic trading. He is currently the Chairman and CEO of Virtu Financial LLC, an electronic trading firm. Mr. Viola started his career in the financial services industry on the floor of the New York Mercantile Exchange and rose to be Vice Chairman (1993-1996) and Chairman (2001-2004). Mr. Viola has launched a number of successful businesses during his career, including Virtu Financial and a regional banking group in Texas. Mr. Viola graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1977. He later graduated from the U.S. Army Airborne, Infantry and Ranger Schools and served in the 101st Airborne Division. In 1983, he graduated from the New York Law School. Shortly after September 11, 2001, Viola was instrumental in founding the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point, now in its tenth year of operation.
Douglas Cifu
Douglas Cifu is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Virtu Financial. Prior to joining Virtu, Mr. Cifu was a Partner at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. At Paul Weiss, Mr. Cifu served as a member of the Management Committee, Deputy Chair of the Corporate Department and co-head of the Private Equity Group. Highly regarded by peers, Mr. Cifu is recognized in Chambers USA and Legal 500 as a leading mergers and acquisitions lawyer for buyouts and private equity transactions. In 2006, Private Equity International included Mr. Cifu in its list of the 30 most influential lawyers currently working in global private equity, citing in particular his expertise in technology-driven sectors. He has also been recognized by Crain’s New York Business in its “Technology 100,” a listing of the top 100 persons working in technology in the New York area. Mr. Cifu completed his J.D. at Columbia Law School in 1990 and his B.A. from Columbia University in 1987 where he graduated magna cum laude.
Graham Free
Graham Free serves as Head of Trading at Virtu Financial, LLC. Mr. Free is a graduate of the California Institute of Technology, where he earned a BS in Economics with honors. Before founding Virtu Financial LLC, Mr. Free worked for Madison Tyler Holdings/EWT LLC Mr. Free was initially hired at EWT out of college as a junior trader, with significant operational support duties, including securities lending, stock record reconciliation, net capital computations, and design of EWT’s clearing software (which was later approved by NSCC for use in self-clearing). Mr. Free was later promoted to head trader within three years of his hire, and as such played a key role at the firm in refining existing models and expanding trading operations to new asset classes, resulting in a twenty fold increase in revenue. Mr. Free holds series 7 and 63 licenses and is an avid chess player, winning the 1996 New York State Amateur Chess Championship and playing on teams that won the 2003 and 2004 National Amateur Team Chess Championships.
Chris Concannon
Chris Concannon is currently a Partner in Virtu Financial LLC, where he serves as an Executive Vice President. Prior to joining Virtu in 2009, Mr. Concannon spent six years as Executive Vice President of the Nasdaq OMX Group. As an Executive Vice President, Mr. Concannon was responsible for overseeing all of Nasdaq OMX’s US exchanges, including the Nasdaq Stock Market, Nasdaq BX, and Nasdaq PHLX. Mr. Concannon was also the CEO of Nasdaq OMX Europe, Nasdaq OMX’s multi-lateral trading facility in the UK. Prior to his career at Nasdaq OMX, Mr. Concannon was President of Instinet Clearing Services, Vice President and Associate General Counsel of Island ECN, Inc. Mr. Concannon was also a practicing attorney at Morgan, Lewis and Bochus LLP from 1997 to 1999 and the US Securities and Exchange Commission from 1994 to 1997. Mr. Concannon holds a bachelor’s degree from Catholic University, an MBA from St. John’s University and a JD from Columbus School of Law, Catholic University. Mr. Concannon maintains a license to practice law in NY, NJ and Washington DC as well as Series 7 and 24 licenses.
