Fraud and Impersonation Warnings

We occasionally are made aware of certain communications which fraudulently misrepresent an association with Virtu.  Such communication may include or utilize fraudulent websites or third-party applications, other forms of social media videos or other posts, and/or may be conducted utilizing third party messaging platforms.  These illegal schemes typically use the name and marks of our company without our authorization and ultimately seek to defraud unsuspecting victims, often times under the guise of opening an account and facilitating trading and investment opportunities.

If you have been contacted by any person(s) purporting to be acting on behalf of, or in connection with, Virtu to open an individual account and trade, be aware that these individuals are not authorized representatives of Virtu and it is likely that you are being recruited into their fraudulent scheme.

Please be aware of the following:

  • Virtu and its subsidiaries DO NOT open accounts directly for individual retail investors to trade cryptocurrencies, securities, futures, commodities or other financial products. 
  • Virtu and its subsidiaries DO NOT accept money from individual retail investors in connection with any type of trading account.
  • Virtu and its subsidiary DO NOT offer investment advice or make investment recommendations to the general public and do not participate in social media or messaging groups that do so.  Virtu and its subsidiaries do not have any mobile applications or official channels on Apps including Telegram or WhatsApp.

If you believe you have been the victim of a fraud, contact your local FBI office via its Internet Crime Complaint Center (https://www.ic3.gov/) (for US-based victims) or local equivalent to report the fraud. 

You may also notify us at report-impersonation@virtu.com, and provide any screenshots, URLs, email addresses, instant messaging handles, and/or LinkedIn profiles related to the occurrence.   While we endeavor to work with applicable regulatory authorities and law enforcement to shut down any such fraudulent schemes, we do not undertake any responsibility to you to take such action or inform or update you on any such steps taken nor do we accept any liability for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential loss or damage arising out of or in connection with any reliance on us to address a misuse of our name(s) and brand(s).
