Our series of events will showcase a variety of experiences, delve into both technical and non-technical topics, and share a multitude of perspectives that reflect the dynamic nature of data science to inspire, educate, and empower people at all stages of their data science journey. Erin Stanton
Global Head of Analytics Client Support, Virtu Financial
Bio
Erin Stanton is a leader in the field of data science and big data and is known for her big energy which she brings to everything she does. With a wealth of experience spanning over 15 years in the industry, she presently serves as the head of Virtu’s Analytics Global Client Support team. Erin is a fervent advocate for all things automation, AI and machine learning and data visualization related. Beyond her daily duties, Erin actively supports the inclusion of women in data science and leads Virtu’s Women in Data Science conference annually. Erin earned her undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Economics from Lehigh University and holds a Master’s degree in Information and Data Science from UC Berkeley.

Kathryn Novak
Analytics Team Lead, Virtu Financial
Bio
Kathryn Novak has been with Virtu since 2019 and currently leads the US Client Services team for Virtu Analytics. She is currently based out of New York but was based in London for the past year. Her responsibilities include assisting clients with running and analyzing transaction cost analysis reports to improve their trading process in the future.
Kathryn has her Series 7 license and holds a BA in Mathematics from the University of Virginia.

Lynn Anderson Clark is the co-founder and CEO of The Know, a London-based media company on a mission to transform people’s relationship with the news. The Know combats news avoidance by delivering the day’s top stories without jargon, bias or sensationalism to millions of women per month. Prior to founding The Know, she was active in the startup community with roles at corporate-backed venture capital firm Founders Factory and Tortoise Media.
Lynn built her media career in New York and Los Angeles working for NBC Universal for 10 years. She held roles spanning product, digital strategy, and finance. Her last role was Director of Partnerships & Portfolio Products where she created and launched NBCU’s suite of social, data and advertising products which were activated at over 40 brands including NBC, NBC News, Olympics, Bravo and E!.

Caroline Chubb Calderon

Caroline Chubb Calderon is a futurist and humanist. As a futurist, she studies the impact of autonomous and intelligent machines on business and society. As a humanist, she works with leaders to become conscious custodians of our human future. She leads a groundbreaking company at the forefront of reimagining the future of humanity in the age of intelligent machines, Hello Humanity.
Recognized as a leading voice in human-machine frontiers, AI, and disruptive leadership, Caroline has shared her expertise with renowned organizations such as Google, Microsoft, and IBM. She is also a TEDx speaker and frequent guest lecturer at leading MBA schools, aspiring to grow positive leaders of tomorrow.
Caroline is deeply committed to ethical practices, and she is involved with IEEE’s working groups, collaborating with diverse cohorts to define the standards for Ethical AI. Reagan Nunnally

More about Reagan – After years, helping build bridges between Madison Avenue and Silicon Valley at the likes of Google and Facebook, she is motivated by the liberal arts nature that LLMs unleash for the human experience online. Detecting nuance and “between the lines” thinking at speed and scale is now possible. In a world of tick boxes, there is a place for “it depends.” Context is kind. Context is everything and deadlines are inevitable.

Milena Pribić
Design Principal, Ethical AI Practices, IBM
Bio
Milena Pribic is the Design Principal for Ethical AI practices at IBM and the global Design liaison to IBM’s AI Ethics board. She promotes ethical AI practices on product teams by running design exercises and co-creating resources with researchers, designers, and developers.

Anna Bethke
Director of Data Science and Ethical AI, Included AI
Bio
Anna Bethke is the Director of Data Science and Ethical AI at Included AI where they are creating AI algorithms to make HR data & decision making more intuitive, helpful, and inclusive. This includes researching and implementing innovative techniques for assessing and mitigating bias and harm in AI. Anna received her MS and BS in Aerospace Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology concentrating on Human Factors Engineering. Anna was formerly an Ethical AI Data Scientist at Salesforce and Meta, the Head of AI for Social Good at Intel and previously worked at MIT Lincoln Labs, Argonne National Labs, and Lab41.

Amy Young | Moderator
Director, Strategic Partnerships, Financial Services, Microsoft
Bio
Amy Young has been an Industry Advisor in Microsoft’s Global Financial Services Industry team since 2019. Based in New York, her mandate is to help the firm’s largest Wealth & Asset Management customers realize the benefits of digital transformation. Most recently, she led Digital Wealth Strategy for BMO in Toronto.
For the 12 years prior to that she ran a boutique management consulting firm specializing in the transformation of the wealth management industry. She brings a diverse toolkit of strategic planning, facilitation and program management skills to help financial institutions achieve their growth and innovation objectives.
Amy spent the first decade of her career in capital markets working as an equity analyst and trader. She made the move into industry in 2001 to lead investor relations at a major Canadian software company and later held senior roles in the corporate strategy team at a global utility. Amy holds an MBA from the Rotman School of
Management, a BA in English from the University of Toronto and is a CFA Charterholder. She has taught Masters-level business communications courses at two leading business schools, enjoys mentoring FinTech startups and chairs the Fintech Committee at CFA Society New York.

Ingrid Tierens
Managing Director, Goldman Sachs
Bio
Ingrid is head of the Data Strategy team in Global Investment Research. Her team collaborates with research analysts to leverage alternative data sources and AI. Previously, she held various roles in the Global Banking and Markets division across equity execution, electronic trading, prime services and equity derivatives. Prior to Goldman Sachs, she worked in quantitative investment teams at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and JP Morgan Investment Management in London.
Ingrid is a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Freedom and Prosperity Center, member of the Advisory Council of the CFA Institute Research & Policy Center, former president and current board member of the Society of Quantitative Analysts in New York, board member of the KU Leuven Alumni Chapter USA and steering committee member of the Chicago Booth PhD Alumni Group.
She earned a PhD in Finance and an MBA from The University of Chicago, and is a CFA charterholder.

Lauren Cascio
Founding Partner, Gulp Data

Lauren Cascio is an accomplished entrepreneur and data product visionary. She is the Founding Partner of Gulp Data, the industry leader in data-backed lending and automated data valuations. Lauren previously founded AbartysHealth, a clinical data company, and aKinned, a healthtech-focused seed fund in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Mihaela-Alexandra Puica
Quantitative Trader, Norges Bank Investment Management
Bio
Mihaela is a Quantitative Trading within NBIM where she trades and runs several quantitative analysis projects for the fund’s global presence. Previous to that, she has been a Lead Energy Analyst within Refinitiv/LSEG and a researcher in geosciences within different teams from Spain, Belgium and Norway. She holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Oslo. Mihaela’s interests span from travelling, literature to triathlon and running.

Bio
Coalitions Manager at Bloomberg New Economy oversees the comprehensive execution of Coalitions and related initiatives. With a background exceeding seven years in business development across the medical, financial, and consumer goods sectors, she has honed her expertise globally in Australia, Hong Kong, the U.S.A., and now the U.K. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Monash University in Australia, where she worked alongside a team conducting ongoing research into intestinal stem cells and the colorectal cancer microenvironment. Beyond her professional pursuits, she passionately serves as Director of Media at the Persian Parade Foundation, a New York-based non-profit.

Jessica Liao
Product and Innovation, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Microsoft
Bio
Jessica Liao is a Product Manager in the Microsoft Health and Life Sciences Solutions group, with 17+ years of global technology experience.
Jessica has a diverse background with leadership experience in product development, R&D, manufacturing, and business operations. She enjoys bringing ideas to action and being a connector across various disciplines – including UX, software engineering, AI/ML research and data science, marketing, and operations.
Jessica holds a Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Rutgers University and a Ph.D. in Materials Science from MIT.

Zhou Yu
Associate Professor, Computer Science Department, Columbia University
Bio
Zhou Yu is an Associate Professor at the Computer Science Department, Columbia University. She is also a co-founder of Articulate.AI that centers its efforts on harnessing the power of Conversational and Generative AI to empower and shape the future landscape of the workspace. Before that, Zhou was an Assistant Professor at UC Davis. She received her PhD at Language Technology Institute under School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University 2017, working with Prof. Alan W Black and Prof. Alexander I. Rudnicky. 2015 summer and 2016 summer, Zhou interned with Prof. David Suendermann-Oeft at ETS San Francisco Office on cloud based multimodal dialog systems. 2014 Fall, she interned with Dan Bohus and Eric Horvitz at Microsoft Research on situated multimodal dialogue systems. Zhou was featured on Forbes 30 under 30 in Science in 2018. Her team also won the 2018 Amazon Alexa Socialbot Competition. Their work on Persuasive Dialog Systems also won ACL 2019 best paper nomination.
Prior to CMU, Zhou received a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.A. in Linguistics under English Language Major from Zhejiang University in 2011. She worked with Prof. Xiaofei He and Prof. Deng Cai on Machine Learning and Computer Vision. She also worked with Prof. Yunhua Qu on Machine Translation.

Danielle Bitterman
Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School, Radiation Oncologist | Natural Language Processing & Artificial Intelligence
Bio
Dr. Danielle Bitterman is an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and faculty of the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Program at Mass General Brigham and the Department of Radiation Oncology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Her laboratory develops natural language processing technologies for information extraction and question-answering from the EHR, with a focus on safe, ethical, and patient-centered methods. She is also involved in clinical trials of AI applications for oncology. Dr. Bitterman received her undergraduate degree at Columbia University, and attended medical school at New York University School of Medicine. She completed an internship in internal medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and her residency at the Harvard Radiation Oncology Program. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship in natural language processing at the Computational Health Informatics Program at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Virtu’s Winternship Program
Our annual Winternship program, now 6 years strong in NYC, are also held in our Dublin and Singapore offices. The week-long program immerses students into the world of finance and technology through real-world trading problems, lectures, networking opportunities and a final capstone project presented to senior management. All undergraduate students are welcome to apply–applications open this summer!
