Claire Benard is a passionate Data Scientist with 8+ years
using Data and Technology to bring novel solutions to important social
issues. She is currently the Director of Data and Analytics at Impact
on Urban Health. She leads a team of Analysts and Partnership
Managers to deliver insights that shape public health program in four areas:
air pollution, childhood obesity, adolescent mental health and Multiple-Long
Term Conditions.
Prior to this, she developed the next generation of Machine
Learning models for Wefarm, the
world largest small-scale farmer platform. This infrastructure enabled
small-scale farmers to share knowledge and access good quality inputs at a fair
price.
Emily Hadley
Research Data Scientist, RTI International
Emily Hadley is a Research Data Scientist with the RTI
International Center for Data Science in Durham, NC. She collaborates with
other technical contributors and subject matter experts on applied data science
projects in several practice areas including health, education, social policy,
and criminal justice. Her technical skills include machine learning,
forecasting, agent-based models, dashboard development, natural language
processing, and data visualizations. Emily holds a Bachelor of Science in
Statistics with a second major in Public Policy Studies from Duke University
and a Master of Science in Analytics from North Carolina State University.
Samantha Litt Juda
Group Product Manager, Etsy
Sam has worked in various roles at Etsy over the past five
years. She began her time there in Analytics, leading a team that focused on
the supply side of the market. Through behavioral analysis, A/B testing, and
measurement against KPIs, her team helped product teams make decisions about
how best to serve their customers. She then transitioned into product
management, where she has spent time leading the Search initiative, as well as
an internal product that creates and serves listing-level metadata to internal
users.
Prior to Etsy, Sam worked on the Trading Analytics team at
ITG (later acquired by Virtu).
Rose Luckin
Professor of Learner Centred Design, UCL Knowledge Lab
Rosemary (Rose) Luckin is Professor of Learner Centred
Design at UCL. Her research involves blending theories from the learning
sciences and techniques from Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Rose is author of Machine Learning and Human Intelligence:
the future of education in the 21st century (2018). She is director of EDUCATE
Ventures Research Ltd., a London hub for educational technology start-ups,
researchers and educators to collaborate on evidence-informed product and services
development; president of the International Society for AI in Education;
co-founder of the Institute for Ethical AI in Education; a member of the UK
Office for Students Horizon Scanning panel; an adviser to the AI and robotics
panel of the Topol review into the future of the NHS workforce; a member of the
European AI Alliance; and one of the 20 most influential people in Education
(Seldon List 2017). Rose held an International Franqui Chair at KU Leuven in
2019.
Kristi Reitnauer
Product Analytics Manager, Etsy
With a degree in Chemical Engineering, Kristi Reitnauer wasn’t
sure what career she was most interested after graduating and started working
on the Trading Analytics team at ITG (later acquired by Virtu). She immediately found her passion for data and
after 6 years working in the finance space, Kristi moved over to Etsy where she
has worked since 2016. She began working
as a data scientist focused on the core shopping experience, helping product
teams improve the buyer experience through the use of behavioral analysis,
predictive modeling and A/B testing. Kristi now leads a team of product data
scientists responsible for deepening Etsy’s understanding of its customers and
identifying opportunities to grow the business even more.
Allison Schlissel
NLP Data Scientist, Wells Fargo
Allison Schlissel is a Data Scientist at Wells Fargo based in San Francisco who builds Natural Language Processing (NLP) AI/ML models at the Wells Fargo AI Center of Excellence. In addition to her role as model developer, she delivers enterprise transformation across a range of Wells Fargo operations and consults with business leadership to implement NLP solutions to solve complex commercial challenges.
Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Allison worked as a Data Scientist at Digitas, a Publicis Media Agency in New York City, where she pioneered automated sentiment analyses at the agency to measure product and brand perception throughout clients’ social media properties.
Allison graduated Magna Cum Laude from Columbia University with a BA in Political Science and trained at Metis Data Science. Allison expects to graduate with a Master of Information and Data Science from UC Berkeley in 2022. In her free time, Allison enjoys weight lifting and knitting.
Denise Simpson is a Senior Manager in the Technology
department assigned to the Enterprise Data team at Southwest Airlines. Denise has been at Southwest Airlines since
November 2000 and has spent the majority of her career working with or managing
teams who design, build and operate data systems for the company. Her team has contributed to many key company initiatives
over the years. Prior to Southwest
Airlines she was part of a team providing database services to a long-term
healthcare company in Northwest Arkansas.
Denise began her technology career as an intern for the Department of
Defense at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama after graduating from Texas
A&M (formerly East Texas State University) with a Bachelor’s Degree in
Management.
Carolina Andreoli
Head of User Experience, Virtu Financial
As the Head of User Experience, Carolina works across strategy and design to articulate the overall vision, which usually means translating the future of technology into something anyone could understand and use. She leads a team of UX architects, visual designers and coders to deliver next-generation, beautiful applications for the firm’s financial services clients.
In prior roles, she was
part of one the largest UX teams at J.P. Morgan, consulted for UBS on one of
the earliest cross-asset investment banking platforms and worked in several
industries creating differentiated B2B and B2C experiences.
A passionate self-quantifier
and data visualizer, Carolina has been featured in numerous publications and
her work has been exhibited at the Adobe Museum of Digital Media. She graduated
from the Central Saint Martins College of Arts in London and holds a BA in
Graphic Design.
Katerina Cronmiller
Analytics Client Services, Virtu Financial
Katerina is on the
Trading Analytics team at Virtu, where she runs analyses and reports that
assist clients in understanding their trading costs. Katerina enjoys data
visualization and tries to incorporate it whenever possible to enhance client
reporting. She joined ITG in 2015 prior to the firm’s acquisition by Virtu
Financial in 2019, starting out in the Workflow Technology space and product
side.
Katerina received her
BA in both Economics and Spanish from the University of Virginia. She also
holds Series 7 and Series 63 licenses.
Erin Stanton
Global Head of Analytics Client Support, Virtu Financial
Erin Stanton has 12+ years of experience in big data and data science and she currently runs the Global Client Support organization for Virtu Analytics. Erin is known for her big energy which she brings to everything she does and has been more recently championing potential machine learning and AI techniques to answer client questions.
Erin is also the co-head of Virtu’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee where she is personally dedicated to expanding women’s roles within technology and data science.
Erin received her undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Economics from Lehigh University and is expected to graduate with a Masters in Information and Data Science from UC Berkeley in May 2021.
Lady Rose has had an incredible career, spanning work with the UK Government, the British Armed Forces, and HM Treasury in respect of financial services. In this speaker session, she discussed her experience rising through the ranks of her professional career as a woman in heavily male-dominated spaces.
